Sharjah Investment City
The historic port of Sharjah has been the center of trade and commerce in the Persian Gulf for over 2500 years. Baker Turner Inc. was commissioned to develop a Master Plan for a new industrial city located 15 kilometers inland from the old port. The site of desert dunes and sparse scrub vegetation is currently occupied only by camels. The first phase of this new development will be home to 25,000 inhabitants and over 75 million square feet of industrial / commercial space. In addition to the prestige industrial warehouse properties, a high density residential community and business / office park make up the program. Mosques, schools, community facilities, police, fire, and medical amenities are concentrated in the urban core.
