Fletcher's Creek Valley Renaturalization

Fletcher’s Creek Valley Renaturalization

As Brampton develops ever northward on both sides of the Fletcher’s Creek valley, over 75 hectares of valleyland are being restored to a natural state. After over 150 years of intensive agricultural use, this recently abandoned farmland was re-vegetated. BTi completed our third annual contract to implement this plan. Plans were prepared to introduce indigenous trees, shrubs and perennials in a manner that rapidly reestablished woody vegetated cover to the valley. To date, after two phases, over 54,300 trees and shrubs have been introduced in addition to 8,100 perennials. In 2007, an additional 22,350 trees and shrubs will be planted along with 10,200 perennials.
